back from Portland

The yard has gone crazy since we left. Peonies, lobelia, iris and poppies are blooming everywhere. the potatoes are doing well and the peas are up. I have one tiny tomato on my old german tomato plant. At Bear Creek Nursery in Stayton/Scio we bought 4 blueberry bushes, hebe, chocolate penstemon and assorted sedums. At the red barn we got a shitake mushroom kit. I replaced our bell peppers plant and took the wall of waters off the tomatoes. weeding is my new hobby every evening...grasses have taken over certain areas. Oh and I will be mowing for the next 3 days solid!

cold summer

So far...I am now hoping for a long autumn! Went out this morn at 5:30 to check the yard, which is very wet, nearly froze in just a light sweater Tshirt combo. Bill is up early making kielbasa sausage. Dogs are napping. Chickens need checking. The corn is finally popping up and we may get some peas soon. My little fushia plants look good for a change...they like this crappy weather!
